For everyone wanting to embark on a mountain gorilla trekking excursion, a Uganda gorilla trekking permit is necessary and can be obtained either by a licensed Uganda tour operator or directly from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
How can you obtain a Uganda Gorilla Trekking Permit?
A legal Uganda gorilla trekking permit issued to a certain sector, such as Rushaga, Nkuringo, Buhoma, or Ruhija, is required for this experience; however, it can be processed at the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) by approved tour operators or firms in Uganda.
Uganda’s gorilla trekking or habituation permit’s price
Gorilla habituation in Uganda takes place in the Rushaga region, south of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and costs $1500 per person to participate in the four-hour event. However, clients who wish to spend an hour with these critically endangered mountain gorillas one must get a gorilla tracking permit, which costs $700 per person. The cost of the gorilla permit only covers the gorilla trek; it does not cover lunch, lodging, or porters.
Conditions for tracking gorillas
Travelers must be at least 15 years old and have a valid passport or identification card in order to obtain a gorilla tracking permit, which is presented before tracking mountain gorillas in Uganda. Lightweight clothing, sun protection, cameras, hiking boots, and sunglasses are all recommended for travelers.
There is a process for canceling a Uganda gorilla trekking permit.
- You will not be eligible for a refund or reimbursement if you have not paid a deposit.
- You can get up to a 75% refund if you cancel three months before your safari.
- If you cancel one and a half months prior to your trek, you will receive a 50% refund.
- Only 25% of the purchase price will be refunded 45 to 1 month prior.
- If you fail to show up or if you cancel within a week, don’t expect a refund.
